You TD 2

You TD 2 is a rebirth of the eponymous WC3 map You TD into a standalone game while retaining all the settings and features of the original. Game is made with Godot 4 engine.


Over 676 towers

The game features around 676 towers (227 if not considering upgrades). They are divided into 7 elements: Ice, Fire, Nature, Air, Darkness, Light, Iron. Each element has its own characteristics and weaknesses. Players are given the opportunity to combine towers from multiple elements to try new tactics. However, you won't be able to use them as a catch-all solution; you'll need to give up something and have a backup plan ready for your weak spot.

In addition to elements, towers are divided into 4 types of rarity: common, uncommon, rare, unique. As the difficulty of the waves increases, players will be provided with increasingly powerful and rare towers. Despite the appeal of unique towers, not all of them have enough potential to be the scourge of any wave. In any case, you will need to wisely choose towers to build your defense. 

Endless wave combinations

Each wave will have a random set of modifications to test the weak sides of the player's strategy. Currently there are 40 modifiers in total. You can get waves with 0, 1 or 2 modifiers.  Each wave will also have 5 types of creeps: normal, champions, flying, mass, boss. As well as 5 types of armor. All these features form more than 20,000 combinations of waves! It will be difficult to counter all of them.

Game modes

The game will feature both single and multiplayer modes. But currently it has only single-player mode. In the game, you can choose the duration of the session, which depends on the number of waves to win: 80, 120, 240. There will be available 5 types of wave difficulty: novice, easy, normal, hard, extreme. After selecting the difficulty, the room creator will be offered 3 tower construction modes: 

Normal construction mode - all participants can build and upgrade any towers from the elements they have learned. 

Upgrade construction mode - all participants will receive a random set of towers after each wave passed, but will be able to upgrade them after construction. 

Random construction mode - all participants will receive a random set of towers with random upgrades after each wave passed. They will not have the opportunity to upgrade buildings on their own. 

More than 300 items

Towers can be upgraded by endlessly infusing them with potions and combining up to 6 items in one tower. 

Items augment towers by adding special abilities or stats increase. The main source of items will be the mobs killed, but they can also be obtained with the help of special towers or other items. Items, like towers, have 4 levels of rarity. The chance of them dropping from killed mobs depends on the difficulty of the wave, debuffs applied to a mob before death, as well as the killer tower itself and its item find / item quality chance. 

Potions are a type of item that does not need to be kept in the inventory of the tower to use its properties. They are applied to the tower once and give a permanent bonus to the tower until the end of the game (or until it is sold). 

Legendary items have the most unusual effects, which can greatly change the tactics of the game. They can drop on any wave starting with the very first. However, do not underestimate common items, they may give simple bonuses, but are designed in such a way that they can be useful throughout the game. 

The surplus of unused items is eliminated by crossing them into a new, more powerful item in the Horadric Cube. You have the ability to merge four oils into a single oil of superior rarity, as well as fuse five items to create one of a higher rarity.

Tower level system

Towers have 25 levels, which can be leveled up by killing creeps, or with the help of other towers, items, or potions. The level is not lost with the upgrade of the tower or replacement with another tower. New levels in the tower unlock new abilities or increase the power of existing ones.

Known Issues

Note that the game is currently in development. A limited amount of towers is currently available and some game features are not implemented. Due to the open source nature of the project, you can create and track issues on the GitHub dashboard: https://github.com/Praytic/youtd2/issues.

We, a team of two people, kvel2d and Praytic, have been actively engaged in creating and promoting this game for 5 months now. But since we are doing this in our free time and for free, we are looking for reliable and experienced game developers, designers, and SMM specialists to join our team. Hey, everybody!

Thank you so much for your work, it's the best thing in the TD genre in a while and I'm glad the game lives on.

I didn't understand how to use the following game moments in the 2nd version:

1) how to swap one tower for another while keeping levels and potions used?

2) how to choose a target for artifacts/skills in the form of the tower I need? without specifying the target of the tower buff and artifacts give effects to any tower instead of the desired one....

Hi Andagor, thanks for your kind words about our project. Regarding your questions, (1) one is working right now in Upgrade and Random modes, like it was in the original. (2) is not yet implemented and will be implemented in the next version, so stay tuned.
